Tatkal Ration Card in Delhi

The Tatkal scheme introduced by Government of Delhi promises to issue ration card to the applicants within two days of making the application and payment of requisite processing fee. This is aimed at streamlining the process of issuing ration cards which is also convenient to the public.

To avail the Tatkal Ration Card scheme, the following instructions are to be followed:-

  1. Ration cards for Antyodaya or Below Poverty Line or JRCs are not issued under this scheme. This scheme is available for Permanent Ration Cards (PRCs) for persons above the poverty line.
  2. Foreign nationals cannot avail benefits under this scheme.
  3. The prescribed application form can be downloaded from the Department website or obtained from Headquarters or AC offices or circle offices.
  4. The ration cards can be obtained within two days of making application to the concerned Zonal Assistant Commissioner during working hours.
  5. Upon receipt of application, the counter clerk shall mention the date when the applicant can come to collect the ration card.
  6. The application should be filled in all respects and address proof should be enclosed. The rent receipt, electricity, telephone or other utility bills of issued by the Government or Power of Attorney or allotment letter of competent authority can be enclosed for address proof.
  7. The following other documents are also to be enclosed with application:-
    • Surrender of existing ration card or surrender certificate thereof, wherever applicable.
    • Attestation of latest photographs to be done by Gazetted Officer or Municipal Counsellor of Delhi or MP or MLA. Three such attested copies to be enclosed.
    • Even the signature of applicant to be attested by any one of the persons mentioned above.
    • Where the applicant is present in person, the requirement of attestation is waived off.
    • The affidavit accompanying the application should be attested by Notary public or Oath commissioner. Also the certification is to be done for the documents enclosed with application.
  8. Tatkal scheme can also be availed for any changes in the existing ration card in terms of additions or deletions or issue of duplicate cards. In case of deletions in existing ration card, no processing fee is levied.

An amount of Rs 100/- shall be deposited in the prescribed office to avail the Tatkal service. After paying the amount, the receipt is issued acknowledging the deposit of processing fee.
